We want everyone to be able to read Something Navy, whatever device, browser or assistive technology they use.
What we do
- Articles use a clear heading structure so that screen reader users can move through them easily.
- Images carry descriptive alternative text, and our charts are described in the surrounding text so the information is not available only in visual form.
- Text is set in readable fonts and sizes with strong colour contrast, and the layout adapts to phones, tablets and desktop screens.
- Links are written to make sense on their own wherever possible, rather than “click here”.
- The site can be navigated with a keyboard, and pages can be zoomed to 200% without content being lost.
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA.
Known limitations
Some older content and some third-party material, such as advertising and embedded content from other services, may not fully meet these standards. We are reviewing older articles as we update them.
Report a problem
If you find something on the site difficult to use, please tell us. Email [email protected] with the subject line “Accessibility”, the page address and a short description of the problem. We aim to respond within five working days and, where we can, provide the information in another format.
