SN Eats Part 4

Research shows that it would take an individual 22.7 years to eat at all of the restaurants in New York City, and that’s 3 meals per day at a new restaurant!

In efforts to help you find a great meal in our backyard, we will be publishing curated guides of our favorites. Read on for our restaurant reviews and a roundup of what we ordered. Think of it as a turn-key manual to our preferred restaurants. Check out our insta-stories for pics and videos of everything up close!

Mastro’s Steakhouse

What did you order?
Appetizer: The Mamba Salad and Tuna Tartare
Main: Salmon and Filet Mignon
Sides: Creamed Corn, Sauteed Spinach
Dessert: Butter Cake

How was the overall experience?
Mastro’s  really knows how to take care of their guests and the food never disappoints. I have been coming here for years and I hope I have a reason to come back in the near future. Though the food is delicious, there is NOTHING better than the butter cake (I would eat it every night if I could).

What occasion would you suggest this place for?
Mastro’s is the ultimate birthday, anniversary, special occasion spot. I love the ambiance and the fact that there is always live music.

Feroce Ristorante

What did you order?

Grilled artichokes with Pecorino Romano, Fritto of Fresh Market Vegetables and Seafood, Eggplant with imported fiordilatte mozzarella and organic tomatoes, Pacchero al Pomodoro, Swordfish, Veal Milanese, a frozen sorbet + alcohol concoction for dessert that was to die for!! Cocktails come with a pasta straw, so fun.

How was the overall experience?

Service here was excellent. Everything from the bread presentation to the interactive dessert felt like a true “moment”. Feroce Ristorante is also well designed–sit in the back “garden” area for a great living wall background.

What occasion would you suggest this place for?

Group dinners, date night, cocktails. As a Jersey girl who travels home to see my family frequently, I’ve always struggled with finding as suitable restaurant near Penn Station. Finally found one.

Highway Restaurant East Hampton

What did you order?

Caeser Salad, Cheeseburger, Casamigos on the rocks with muddled cucumber

How was the overall experience?

Fantastic, I love that they have both american food and sushi (it’s combined with the restaurant Shuko). Service was great, took a little long to get the drinks but they were well worth the wait.

What occasion would you suggest this place for?

A night out with another couple, fun vibe, great music, great drinks.

Gramercy Tavern

What did you order?
Appetizers: Wagyu Pastrami (by far the table favorite), flat bread (ordered without ham), Artic Char (loved this too it was very refreshing and the perfect balance from the cheese and meat!)
Appetizers were so delicious and not overwhelming it was the perfect amount (there were 3 of us) we each got a few bites and was not too much at all.

Main course:
Meatballs (so yummy with a little bit of a spice), Swordfish (light and yummy) and the burger (this was most recommended to us and of course did not fail- it was juicy and delicious)

The chocolate pudding, ricotta donuts and caramelized custard (all of these were so delicious and not too heavy at all- the chocolate pudding was our favorite- you must get this if you go!!)

How was the overall experience?
Overall the staff was so nice, the ambiance was so beautiful with fresh flowers everywhere – the bar the room was filled so it felt lively but not loud or over crowded at all. I definitely suggest going to Gramercy Tavern with a group and sharing a bunch of things- the portions are smaller so it was fun being able to try everything. There were 3 of us so we got 3 appetizers, 3 mains and 3 desserts. It was the perfect amount!

What occasion would you suggest this place for?
Date night, birthday dinner and family dinner. It is on the fancier side so definitely go for a special occasion!
