SN Eats Part 3

Research shows that it would take an individual 22.7 years to eat at all of the restaurants in New York City, and that’s 3 meals per day at a new restaurant!

In efforts to help you find a great meal in our backyard, we will be publishing curated guides of our favorites. Read on for our restaurant reviews and a roundup of what we ordered. Think of it as a turn-key manual to our preferred restaurants. Check out our Insta-stories for pics and videos of everything up close!

Sugar Fish Soho

What did you order?
The Trust Me which comes with: Edamame, Tuna Sashimi, Albacore Sushi, Salmon Sushi, Toro Hand Roll, Yellowtail Sushi, Sea Bass Sushi, and a Crab Hand Roll

How was the overall experience?
I love that this is an affordable option for high quality sushi (the Trust Me menu is $40 with tip)!
They do not take reservations so plan to put your name in and grab drinks near by- the wait can be up to 3 hours!

What occasion would you suggest this place for?
Come here for traditional sushi (no california rolls or spicy tuna rolls in sight!).

4 Charles Prime Rib

What did you order?

To Start: Shrimp Cocktail, Sizzling Shrimp Scampi and the Little Gem Salad

  • The Little Gem Salad was SO good yet so simple. I am a big fan of a good salad and this one was delicious. It paired perfectly with the shrimp scampi and I only wanted the main dishes more after being so excited about the appetizers.

Main: Cheeseburger (one as is and one with bacon and an egg) and The French Dip

  • Let me start by saying that when the table ordered, I was definitely nervous as I am not usually a huge fan of SO much meat. I ate half of the cheeseburger and a quarter of the french dip and when I tell you I could have kept going, I mean it.

Sides: Elote Style Corn and Mac & Cheese

  • Who doesn’t love some corn with spices and cheese?! It wasn’t even a question if we were going to order the mac and cheese since the table was full of truffle lovers and I practically find myself eating mac and cheese at least 2 times a week for dinner.

How was the overall experience?

Though it is hard to get a reservation, the food definitely did not disappoint. Our service was a bit slow for such a small restaurant but I quickly forgot about that once I took a bite of the French dip. This was a table favorite by a landslide. I loved being at a restaurant that was small and not super loud.

What occasion would you suggest this place for?

4 Charles is a great option for a date night or a small group dinner!

The Usual

What did you order?

For $25 you get to choose a whole brunch set called Brunch Palooza: For mine I picked:

  • To start: Fruit Cup, Yogurt, Granola, Scrambled Eggs – which was truly the perfect size to start.
  • Main: Pancakes – these were SO delicious and they give you a side of whipped cream and berries to make it all the better.
  • Side: Smoked Salmon – this was SO good! Truly some of the best smoked salmon I’ve had and they put it with olive oil and seasoning that makes it that much more delicious.

I love that you can do this because you get a bite of every taste bud: sweet, salty and savory and it’s only $25 which is such a good deal for a full brunch like this.

For the table we shared:

  • Fried Chicken and Waffles: YUM all I have to say, Hash Potatoes: Crispy and delicious and Grapefruit Brulee: really good – sour and sweet all at the same time!

How was the overall experience?

Love, love, love this place! It was so cute and all of the details of the restaurant are so aesthetically pleasing. The service was great and it's a great spot for summer because they have outdoor seating as well. The food was so delicious and I love the fact that you can order a whole brunch set because you get to taste everything without breaking the bank.

What occasion would you suggest this place for?

Any occasion! I did not have dinner here but I heard their burger was amazing so I would say this is perfect for a girls brunch or date night!

What did you order?

Lots! To drink: the paloma.  To eat: 1st Course: Burrata & Heirloom Tomatoes, Baby Arugula + Watercress Salad / 2nd Course: Spaghetti, Half Spicy Honey/Half Margherita Pizza / 3rd Course: Citrus Marinated Half Chicken, Cajun Rubbed Local Black Bass / Dessert: Covina Candy Bar, Sorbet

How was the overall experience?

Great!  We were seated straight away and our waitress was very attentive.  This meal was what a Sunday night called for- comforting and delicious.  If I had to choose, the pizza was my favorite part.

What occasion would you suggest this place for?

Definitely fun for date night or a girls outing!
