Tell us who you are…
Tell us about your business and what makes you stand out?
My business for the last 13 years has been everything from handbags to apparel to shoes, etc. More recently I launched Female Founder Collective to teach the consumer to recognize Female Founded Companies and support them via their dollars and bridge the economic divide faster than ever. We stand out because there has never been a universal symbol until NOW. All female founders that use it, highlight their products to show the consumer where to vote. We also have a database of over 2000 Female Founded Companies that allows us to have a network of women to all begin to partner, leverage each other and expand their companies with.
How did you get started?
I started when I moved here in 1999 (OMG) to work for a designer. After 3 years of working for someone else, it was time to move on. I got myself fired and was told by the then CEO of the company I worked for to “go out and do it, start your own gig.” So I did. I had a small RTW business, made almost everything myself until I came out with a bag 4 years later in 2005, and then everything changed after one Daily Candy Newsletter titled “Catwalk of Shame”. You can google the rest! 🙂
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
Seeing and meeting my customer and knowing that I made something that helped give her confidence to go out and make change, whether that was for a job interview, a break up, or just to hang with girls.
