We all try to work out a few times a week to feel good and get our heart rates up.
We’re always asked about our favorite workout spots in NYC, so we compiled a list of the team’s favorites from pilates to cycling to high intensity workouts to keep you all in the know of what we’re up to. Here are some of our usual spots and why we love them:
“If cardio, strength training and Pilates had a baby…it would be SLT”
Nikki- SLT is definitely a team favorite that all of us go to and love. We have basically gone to every studio they have in NYC. Working out is not something I always make time for, but when I do, it’s for SLT. My goal was never to lose weight but instead to tone my body. SLT does just that. I feel sore after each class and love to try new instructors.
New York Pilates
Studio Perks: “Over 400 Classes A Week, Results Driven Programming, Over 20 Expert Instructors, Beautiful Environments, Access Multiple Locations, Friendly Studio Staff, Amazing Community, Great Music”
Anna- This class is definitely on the slower side and the vibe in there is relaxing but I always leave sore and shaking! (which is the goal)
“SoulCycle is a 45-minute indoor cycling class that features high-intensity cardio, muscle-sculpting strength training, and rhythm-based choreography.”
Tara- Soul Cycle is my preferred feel-good-cardio workout. It took me some time to “find the beat” (if you Soul you know what I’m talking about), but once I did, it became part of my regimen. It’s just the right level of challenging, nothing too extreme I can’t handle at 7AM.
”Modo Yoga Studio is a community of inspired students, joined together by our love of yoga, our commitment to protecting the earth, and our drive to bring more peace into the world. We are a place for all.”
Tara- I used to live in the West Village and this was my go-to hot yoga studio. There’s no better feeling than a hot yoga sweat. The class I took most often was the regular Modo class, not the flow, as I felt it was more relaxing. Highly recommend it there!
“Using your own bodyweight as resistance, the Physique 57 workout targets the muscles in your arms, thighs, seat and abs to the point of fatigue then stretches them for relief. Our effective process, called Interval Overload, includes muscle-defining arm exercises, intense thigh and seat sequences, waist-chiseling ab moves, and fluid stretches.”
Dana – Of all the barre classes in NYC, this one is far and away my favorite. They use heavier weights than most barre studios, which means arms get extra toning. They also incorporate ab work into most exercises, and I always feel it the next day.
“Barry’s is the original high-intensity work out. It burns up to 1,000 calories in one class (!!!), tones muscle, maximizes fat loss, and increase your metabolism, so you actually burn calories even after class is over. We’ve got the science to prove it. (And the abs…)”
Dana- This class is not for the faint of heart and perfectly captures the energy of New York. Fast paced, loud, challenging, and so worth it. As an added bonus, the locker rooms come stocked with luxurious Oribe products.
