5 Steps to Get Your Best Fall Skin

Pumpkin spice lattes are back, and soon enough our instagram feeds will be flooded with flannel shirts and variations of “APPLE PICKING SZN” captions.

While the changing temperatures can prove exciting for our wardrobes and our social calendars, the colder weather can signals a sad shift in our skin. Here are five tips to extend your summer glow and achieve your best fall skin.

Exfoliate

You can use all of the moisturizers and masks in the world, but if you aren’t properly exfoliating (at least 3x per week!) then those products are likely just hanging out on top of your dead skin cells, instead of penetrating deeper to deliver hydration. Look for a treatment  that combines gentle physical exfoliants with high naturally derived chemical ones.

Switch up your serum

It’s officially time to indulge in heavy duty moisturizing agents!  Consider adding a hyaluronic serum to your routine. Unlike exfoliating acids which break down dead skin cells, hyaluronic acid acts like a magnet for water, attracting and holding hydrationion within your skin, which keeps you dewy even as you embrace the harsher temperatures.

Leave your moisturizing mask on overnight

There is no better feeling than waking up to glowing skin. For a little extra oomph, sleep in a moisturizing mask 1-2x per week. Choose a formula that combines hyaluronic acid and nourishing oils to continuously hydrate skin while you sleep.

I love the way this one melts into skin. It’s somehow heavy and light at the same time, with grapeseed oil to nourish and squalene to lock in moisture.

Stretch out the glow

While I’m personally a fan of fake tans year round, I know that fear can set in as a summer tan fades to fall. Add back a sunkissed, sun-free glow with a tanning product that layers well with your existing skincare.

I love that this contains raspberry seed oil and (you guessed it) hyaluronic acid. The glow is subtle enough to feel like the real deal. I use this 2-3x per week to keep my skin looking bronze.

Support skin from the inside out

We know beauty starts from within, so now is a good time to ensure you are getting enough of the nutrients you need to support a healthy skin barrier. Vitamin C plays a big role in collagen production, which keeps skin bouncy and supple.
